The Future Starts Today, 2024 – 2025

During October 2024 – October 2025, SCI carried out “The Future Starts Today” initiative in the municipalities of Berat, Kuçovë, and Dimal. This 12-month initiative developed in partnership with local education authorities contributed to strengthen the civic engagement, critical thinking, and leadership potential of young people across 10 public high schools in these three municipalities. Working through teachers, SCI equipped 2,785 students aged 15 – 24 young people with the skills and motivation to identify problems in their communities and become part of the solution. The students presented their findings and proposals directly to municipal councils and other key local actors—including CSOs, private sector representatives, and religious institutions—thus connecting youth-driven ideas to decision-making platforms. These presentations not only validated the voices of young people but also promoted accountability and shared ownership of community solutions.
